Susan Higgins
Susan’s glass art depicts natural themes inspired by the forest setting of her lakeside studio. Her primary technique is fused or kiln-fired glass. Coloured glasses are cut, composed in layers, and melted together in a kiln to create colourful bowls, platters and window panels. Some of her work incorporates silhouettes cut from thin sheet copper, sandwiched between layers of glass.
Susan is also accomplished in leaded stained glass, and has worked in this medium for over 25 years, completing hundreds of windows. Commissions are accepted in both fused and stained glass.
A career craftsperson, Susan studied drawing, painting and design at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Her work is available in fine craft galleries including The Shutterbug Gallery in Huntsville Ontario, and The Guild Shop in Toronto’s Yorkville district.
